Packing for Peru
What to Pack for an Adventure to Peru?
Peru is a country of diversity, and therefore you need to know what to pack for a variety of different climates, terrains, and experiences. Here I have curated my top traveling items for my adventure to Peru, and hope they will help you as you are packing for Peru!
Weather & Climate:
Cusco, Peru is at an elevation of over 10,000 feet and therefore the temperatures vary from warm during the days and cool during the evenings. The average temperature is consistent throughout the year, which means that it is always a good time to travel to Peru (just keep in mind that December - February is the wet season so expect heavy rainfalls throughout the days). No matter what time of the year you travel be prepared to pack in layers!
Culture & Customs:
People in Peru are very hospitable, so be prepared to make a lot of friends! Spanish is the most spoken language, and Catholicism the most practiced religion. Try to learn a few words in Spanish and be respectful when you are visiting important religious sites (such as monasteries). Peruvian people greet with a handshake and a smile, so do the same and you will be joyfully welcomed to Peru. Most local people dress conservatively (shoulders and knees covered) so bring plenty of comfortable, light clothing that you feel confident in.
