The Best Time to Visit Croatia

Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular vacation destination due to its Game of Thrones backdrops, waterfall-filled national parks, and crystal clear cerulean seas. Treat yourself to an unforgettable natural, cultural, historical, and gastronomic expedition to Croatia & the Balkans and experience the best that this region of the world has to offer!

Similarly to many countries along the Mediterranean, Croatia does not experience drastic temperature changes throughout the year. In the winter months, temperatures lie in the 40-50’s and in the summer months, in the 70-80’s.

The best times to visit Croatia are during the off-peak months of April and October. During these shoulder months, all the regular tourist attractions are up and running, but do so with significantly smaller crowds. Croatia weather in April ranges from the 40’s to 60’s, depending on exact location. The northern areas like Zagreb, tend to be cooler, whereas in the south like Dubrovnik, it tends to be warmer. Croatia in October begins the transformation from summer to fall and you can witness the foliage changing from greens to vibrant yellows and reds across the stunning Croatian landscape.

Be sure to explore the remarkable national parks that Croatia has to offer. A few of the most famous parks are Plitvice Lakes National Park, located just a couple hours outside of Zagreb in the north, and Krka National Park, which is close to Split in the south. Each park boasts remarkable views of waterfalls and clear blue-green water.

Don't miss the opportunity to take in the incredible views of the Mediterranean, taste some of Croatia’s finest wines, and walk through the winding streets of Old Town where you can experience a country rich with history and culture.

After exploring Croatia, don't pass up the opportunity to visit the Balkans for more of the region’s cultural heritage and stunning landscapes.
