8 Tips For Taking Care Of Your Skin While Traveling

Being out on the road doesn’t mean having healthy and gorgeous skin is impossible. Self-care should still be a priority, and that includes taking care of your skin. Today, we’ll be talking about some practical tips to maintain healthy and smooth skin on the go.

Bring a Small Skincare Kit

Here is an essential list of skincare products you can bring that won’t take up too much luggage space or take too long to apply.

Moisturizer - Moisture is important for keeping your skin hydrated. Dry skin leads to issues like inflammation, redness, and skin cracks. Moisturize first thing in the morning of your trip. The air inside vehicles in particular can dry you out quickly, so it’s important to keep track of your skin’s condition during the trip.

Facial Mist - Facial mists are the best option for moisturizing your skin quickly. If you are in a car or walking and can’t apply your moisturizer, a quick spray to the face is all you need to feel refreshed. Next to sunscreen, keeping your skin moist is the most important part of skincare. Hydration is what keeps your skin soft and smooth.

SPF Solution - Sunscreen is essential for protecting your sensitive skin from the sun’s harmful rays. If you expect arid conditions, apply your sunscreen generously and thoroughly. Sunburns are some of the nastiest things that can happen to your skin, so it’s best to avoid them entirely with sunscreen.

Eye Cream - Eye puffiness is one of the most apparent signs of unhealthy skin. A good eye cream fixes those issues quickly. In the absence of eye cream, you could use a cold compress to refresh your eyes. Wrap some ice from your cooler and apply it to your eyebags for a few minutes.

Facial Cleanser - Facial cleansers are exactly what they say on the package. These cleansers deeply clean your pores of dirt and impurities, which is useful for long trips. Unclean skin leads to many issues that make the other skin issues pop up much earlier, so be generous with your facial cleanser.

Insect Repellant – If you’re traveling to a humid area with plenty of foliage, bugs are your worst enemy. Instead of swatting them away and reddening your skin with slaps, apply some repellant instead. Most repellents are pleasant smelling, so no worries about repelling other people.

Don’t Wear Makeup

Makeup is a losing battle. Many will tell you that you could make it work, but there are simply too many factors for any significant makeup for you to maintain. Instead of makeup, just stick to simple skin cream and SPF solutions to keep your face bright. Makeup will most likely cake and fall off while you’re moving around. If you must-have makeup, just save it for when you arrive at your location.

Don’t Touch Your Skin Too Much

Touching your skin, especially your face, leads to breakouts while traveling. Your hands are the most germ-prone part of your body so touching your skin too much could pollute it. Additionally, if you applied any of the various moisturizers or lotions from above, excessive touching scrubs it all off. If you must touch your skin, whether for an itch or some other reason, do so gently.

Use Antibacterial Handwash

As said above, your hands are the body parts most prone to germs on your body. Keep your hands constantly clean with an antibacterial handwash. Use this after touching any surface that hosts germs such as metal bars or walls. This also extends to any objects that get touched by other people such as pens in public places or countertops.

Bring an Umbrella

It’s always a good idea to bring an umbrella. If the sun is high, an umbrella provides you with shade to protect your skin. If it rains, an umbrella prevents you from getting too wet. Excessive moisture can lead to skin colds and wash off any lotions you might have applied to yourself.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

Your clothes should fit the environment of wherever you are traveling. If you are going to be stuck in dry heat, wear airy clothes that let your skin breathe. If the weather is cold and wet, wear a thick hoodie.

Avoid Touching Surfaces

As much as possible, avoid touching surfaces you don’t need to. If you want to rest, lean with the parts of your body that are clothed. Dirty walls are one of the biggest opponents of healthy skin. Not to mention, some surfaces are abrasive and leave marks on your skin.

Sleep Well Before Travelling

Prevention is the best cure, and a good night’s sleep gives your skin a head start on staying healthy. A lack of sleep leads to paler and more vulnerable skin, which is something even your skincare kit can’t fix. To keep your skin fresh and healthy, start before you even hit the road. Make sure to do any packing or settling of travel insurance well before you sleep.
