Frequently Asked Questions
+ How hard is the the ABC trek (i.e. how long will I be hiking each day?
The Annapurna (ABC) trek is classified as a moderate trek. The entire trek is approximately 65 kms and on an average we will trek roughly 8 kms each day day. The trail involves a series of inclines and declines with a well defined path of steps through the rocky terrain. To prepare for the trip focus on your aerobic fitness (walking and running for long distances), physical strength, and mental balance.
+ What should I do to prepare for the hike?
We recommend following our simple DIY training plan that requires little or no equipment and develops the three areas mentioned above, endurance, physical strength, and mental stamina. The program can be very easily adapted to to an individuals level (we often find that people overestimate their effort and underestimate their capability).
+ What is the Food & Accommodation like?
We do our best to provide the best accommodation available in the remote places we are visiting with little to no infrastructure. Teahouses are basic yet comfortable with food is simple, yet delicious. We encourage our travellers to eat vegetarian for practical reasons while on the trek, it is nutritious and just what the body needs.
+ Tell me about Safety & Emergency Support on the Mountain
Your safety is our #1 priority. We maintain a healthy guide to trekker ratio (1:2), trek along a safe route, and constantly stay on top of on weather information during the trek. Our team has years and years of experience and in the case of any emergency, we bring in the mountain medical services and helicopter rescue (they are always prompt to respond). Due note that the cost of such emergencies is required to be covered by travel insurance.
