One of the biggest attractions that Iceland has to offer is the aurora borealis, or northern lights, and the best time to see it is in winter. It does snow here, but it is actually pretty mild compared to many other places. You can still see the natural beauty of the amazing landscapes and all the features that this land has to offer. Iceland is a hotspot for hot springs, so if you ever feel as if the weather might be cold for you, you can always warm up here. If you are not a huge fan of crowds or tons of people, you might want to consider this season as the best option for you. Tourism is its slowest at this point of the year so you will be able to do everything without feeling cramped or claustrophobic.
Spring
Iceland is a country that experiences all four seasons to their full extent. Spring is a great time to visit here. Although it might still be a little chilly in the beginning months of spring, you can feel the entire land begin to thaw out from winter as the weather starts to warm up. The vegetation of the land begins to flourish and become more beautiful than ever. The days start getting longer again and you can feel the entire place begin to liven up. One of the best features of the landscape here in Iceland is the abundance of majestic waterfalls. The spring is the best time to see them due to the snow starting to melt from the winter. The water runoff makes them more powerful and mighty than at any other time of year.
Summer
The summer season is the most popular time of the year for people to visit Iceland. The weather is perfect for getting outdoors and exploring the bountiful natural wonders that this place has to offer. Sightseeing is usually the reason for most people's trips to Iceland, and if you fall under this category, summer is probably the season for you. If you were wondering about the rumors of the days being extremely long here in the summer, well they are true. During the summer months, it can be light outside for up to 21 hours in the day. This means that there is so much time to do and see all the fun things you wish. The weather is nice and warm and flowers are blooming everywhere. Most of the countries festivals and activities are during the summer so you can always have something to look forward to here. This is a great time to visit this amazing place.
Autumn
The Northern lights come back in full swing during this time of year, and Iceland is one of the best countries in the world to see them. Autumn is a great time of year to visit because in the early months because it is still pretty warm from the lingering weather of summer, but the crowds and tourism die down as the free months of summer do. Fall is one of the most peaceful and beautiful times to come to Iceland. All of the natural landmarks here are still waiting for you to admire them.
