Who doesn’t like roasting s’mores by a fire, admiring the nighttime stars, and being one with nature where the only noises are the surrounding wildlife? The Southwestern United States is the perfect place for your next camping trip. Camping is an easy, affordable way to relax and unwind. The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon National Park is located in gorgeous northern Arizona. This National Park is considered one of the natural wonders of the world with its colorful rocks and tall views. The park is separated into two rims: the Northern Rim and the Southern Rim. There are things to see in both rims; the scenery is vastly different and the North Rim is considered more secluded. It is best to spend multiple nights in the Grand Canyon as there are lots of activities to do! The Grand Canyon village welcomes visitors with the best view overlooking the canyon! The Bright Angel trail is a long hiking trail close to the Colorado River or there is river rafting. There is also the Grand Canyon railway which you won’t want to miss!

Zion National Park / Bryce Canyon

Zion National Park is the jewel of Utah located in sunny Southern Utah near Saint George. Zion is Utah’s first National Park and anyone who visits can see why! This park features expansive canyons, rapid rivers and many hiking options. The Narrows is an adventurous hike that involves wading in the river where the trail leads to! It’s best to make the hike into a day trip and stay the night so time isn’t an issue and you can just enjoy the views. Situated one quick hour away is Bryce National Park which is equally as captivating with its hoodoos! Hoodoos are irregularly eroded spires of rocks, a view that is sure to impress as it can’t be seen anywhere else on the planet.

Arches National Park / Canyonlands

Arches National Park is a red-rock oasis in Utah with stunning natural rock arch formations. It’s the perfect place to set up camp because of the wide-open spaces and majestic views. It is open for camping year-round and will be worth it no matter what time of year it is! Canyonlands is a neighboring park and a must-see if you’re in the area. Horseshoe canyon located in the park contains caveman-like art perfectly preserved on the walls that can be accessed by a moderate hike.

Yellowstone

If you are seeking a unique camping experience, Yellowstone National Park is the place for you! Yellowstone is located on top of a volcanic hot spot! But not to worry, it won’t erupt anytime soon. This national treasure is primarily located In Wyoming but spread out to Montana and Idaho too. There are many things to explore like hot springs, active geysers, and mud pools. In fact, over half of the world’s active geysers are found in Yellowstone. Luckily there are plenty of camping spots in this geological haven. Most camping is done during the dry summers but the hotspots keep tourists warm during the winter.

Lake Powell

If you are looking for a fun summer vacation site, Lake Powell is the place for you! Lake Powell straddles the Utah-Arizona border. This fun lake is known for boating, kayaking, cliff jumping and swimming because of the crystal clear and warm water.  Tourists visit the lake from all across the nation to experience its beauty and laid-back vibes. There are various camping grounds to choose from close to the lake. What could be more perfect than a day at the lake and then a bonfire to end the night? After visiting this paradise, one trip won’t be enough!

Glacier National Park

Imagine a camp spot with a hidden lake, diverse wildlife, and gigantic mountains… all of this can be found at Glacier National Park! This Montana gem is every hiker’s dream. In order to access the special hidden lake, there is a moderate 5.4 mile hike through meadows and wildflowers. Don’t be surprised if you spot a mountain goat on the way, they are commonly seen near the overlook. Fun fact about this awesome camping spot: President George W. Bush once visited the lake to fish for trout! There are many campsites available nearby, be sure to call and make a reservation ahead of time in order to ensure your spot at this popular location.

Mount Rushmore

It’s not everyday that you see a mountain with the faces of former Presidents carved into it… that is, unless you visit the famous Mount Rushmore! This historical site represents hope and freedom for all people. Most travelers camp a short drive away in order to have time to do everything that the monument offers! There is a trail that takes you up close to the faces, there is also an interactive museum and shop. Make sure to cross Mount Rushmore off of your bucket list!

Right on the California-Nevada border, it is one of the purest lakes in the world and the second deepest in the United States!
