Day 1: Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica

Arrive: Juan Santamaría International Airport

Welcome to San Jose, Costa Rica! On arrival at the SJO international airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and provided with all the necessary papers you need to use during the rest days. Afterward, we will transfer you to your hotel in downtown San Jose. Hotel check-in is anytime after 2pm, we recommend arriving between 2-4pm. Day 2: San Jose to Sarchi Village to Arenal Volcano

Breakfast at the hotel.Today you will visit Sarchi village well known as the cradle of the artisans.As the national symbol of Costa Rica, carts play a preponderant role in the history of the country, since they were used to transport coffee and other products to be taken to nearby and distant markets, as well as to different ports.These highly decorative wagons are elegantly carved and hand-painted in vibrant, bold colors. The art of painting these beautiful carts is a tradition in Costa Rica that has been passed from generation to generation.Afterwards we will transfer you to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern Plains region (3-4 hrs from San Jose). Majestic in its grand stature, the volcano is one of the country’s natural wonders. While the volcano is quiet these days and there are no lava eruptions, you can still see clouds of smoke or ash emanating from the top of the cinder cone. As well, you can enjoy the plentiful hot springs in the area. Along your journey to the town of La Fortuna, at the base of the volcano, you will see agricultural plantations, large ornamental plant nurseries, and cattle farms.Once arrive you can enjoy the thermal pool at the hotel.Accommodation in Arenal Volcano hotel (Arenal Paraiso Resort)

Day 3: Arenal Volcano - Sky Tram, Ziplining, Hanging Bridges, and La Fortuna Waterfall

Breakfast at the hotel.Today you will ride a tram up the mountain, and then get back to the base riding a thrilling ziplines, making it a perfect adventure activity with no walking segments – get off and jump on to the next cable. You’ll ride 7 cables that go up to 200m (656ft) in height and 750m (2460ft) in length where you will be astounded by its impressive heights, speeds that go up to 70km/h (43.5mph), views, and because you will be able to admire the surrounding mountains like in no other place.Later on, explore the rainforest on a 4km (2.5mi) circuit trail that snakes through distinct levels of the wonderfully diverse ecosystem. You will hike deep into these magical tropical forests to admire nature from a distinct perspective. Crossing hanging bridges with complete views of the forest canopy, and from the forest floor on well-maintained paths will spotting all kinds of intriguing plant and wildlife such as sloths, birds, monkeys, iguanas and more.In the afternoon we will visit Rio Fortuna Waterfall Reserve, with more than 4000 ml of precipitation per year, will give you the opportunity to enjoy a downhill hike until you reach the base of the 70-meter high waterfall, through the tropical rain forest. Day 4: Arenal Volcano - Canyoning - Tabacon Hot Springs

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will put your gear on, give you a short safety and rappelling explanation and then a short trek on a beautiful rainforest trail to the first waterfall rappel where you will descend into to canyon! The 5 rappels range in heights of 13 mts (25 ft ) to 55 mts (165 ft). After rappelling down the first waterfall you will climb up the side of the canyon wall, 10 mts (20 ft), to a short trail. Then zip line across the canyon and rappel down from the cable 25 mts (82 ft) to the canyon floor again. Then continue on short trails from waterfall to waterfall through the canyon, it's like being in a National Rainforest Park! Then, you will do a short trek out of the canyon to the second ranch house where you meet up with the 4x4 vehicles and then back to our base offices for a delicious Costa Rican style lunch just outside La Fortuna with a view of the famous Arenal Volcano. In the afternoon we will head to the famous Tabacon Thermal Hot Springs Resort where you will be able to relax and enjoy the thermal natural hot springs of this hotel. Experience the lush and beautiful grounds of these completely natural hot springs. Water flows by gravity throughout the property, forming in-river pools, waterfalls, and cascades, filling the pools throughout the resort. You will feel like you have been transported to the Garden of Eden! An eco-friendly and carbon neutral resort, Tabacon places a big emphasis on turning the guest experience into a close encounter with nature.We will spend the afternoon and evening here, to include lunch, before heading back to our accommodations.Accommodation in Arenal Volcano hotel (Arenal Paraiso Resort)

Day 5: Arenal Volcano - Tamarindo Beach

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Tamarindo Beach (3-4 hr drive from La Fortuna). While some of Costa Rica’s beautiful beaches might be difficult to access, Tamarindo has made its roads tourist-friendly, so that all visitors can experience the beauty of this Guanacaste beach town.Tamarindo isn’t just a great spot to visit because of its development. It is also a wonderland of adventure and has the serenity of a tropical getaway. Day 6: Tamarindo Beach - Surf Lessons - Catamaran Cruise

Gain confidence as we teach you the rules, how to stand up, and how to surf.The beginner surf lessons include a daily 2-hour surf lessons with an expert instructor. 1 instructor to 3 people max.Afternoon you can enjoy a catamaran tour when you silently glide along Costa Rica’s Gold Coast while passing some of Guanacaste’s exotic bays, white sand beaches, and tropical jungles. Day 7: Tamarindo - Conchal Beach Tour

Breakfast in the hotel. On this day, you have the choice of two different activities. You can either choose to spend the day at Conchal Beach, one of the most exotic and stunning beaches on the Costa Rican Gold Coast, or you can do the optional add-on activity (see below for details).In the morning, we will take you to Conchal Beach, one of the most exotic beaches on the Costa Rican Gold Coast. Here you can snorkel in crystal clear water, rent a kayak, or lounge at the beach while enjoying the views of this stunning and photogenic beach. Conchal, together with Playa Brasilito, is separated by a rocky headland known as Punta Conchal, which gets its name from the sand found here that is composed of hundreds of millions of tiny crushed shells. This beach is perfect for families because of its calm, crystal-clear waters also making it ideal for snorkeling, kayaking, and lounging at the beach.You can also choose to participate in an optional activity to Rincon de la Vieja, a national park about 2 hours away from Tamarindo. Here we will enjoy a full day of horseback riding, whitewater tubing, hiking to a waterfall, and finishing the day at the mud baths. Day 8: Tamarindo - San Jose International Airport

Breakfast in the hotel.Today you depart Tamarindo to the Juan Santamaria International Airport (3-4 hrs). Please note that you should be at the airport at least three hours before your flight departs. The group will depart Tamarindo together in the morning, and we expect to arrive to the airport between 1-2pm, please ensure that your flight departs after that time frame.
