Today, we will go on a city tour of La Paz. With its elevation of 13,120 feet (4,000 meters), the city is set amongst the mountains, with colorful houses dotting the landscape. Visit the Valley of the Moon, a beautiful natural park located right outside of the city. After finishing our scenic hike (roughly 40 minutes), we'll return to the city and take an orange cable car (one of seven in the city) to get a scenic view of the mountains, valleys, houses, and city life.
Just across the bridge from the main part of the city is the San Francisco Church and the Witches' Market. Take a walk to explore these sites, or relax at the hotel for the afternoon. This will be your last evening in Bolivia.

Day 6: La Paz - Copacabana, Bolivia - USA
see details >
You'll depart La Paz via bus to Copacabana, a charming city on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. According to Andean belief, Titicaca is the original birthplace of the sun. It is also the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable body of water in the world. Clear blue skies and shimmering blue water make Lake Titicaca the long-time home of highland cultures steeped in tradition and mystery.
Upon arrival, you will travel by boat with your guide to the shores of the breathtaking Isla del Sol. You'll tour this magnificent island at a leisurely pace and soak in its many archaeological sites and offerings. More than 80 ruins can be found across the rugged, 27-square-mile (70-square-kilometer) island. These ruins are the remnants of the Inca civilization that lived here in the 15th century AD.
Dine on delicious traditional foods while on the Isla del Sol, and enjoy the wonders of a place untouched by motorized traffic before backtracking to El Alto International Airport near La Paz. Of course, if you're not quite ready to say good-bye to South America, we'd love to have you join us for an extension in Peru!
