Arrival Airport: Arturo Merino Benitez Santiago International Airport (SCL)

Welcome to Santiago! Home of Pisco Sour, a variety of seafood, and marvelous Cabernet Sauvignon, Santiago is considered the safest city in South America. As the capital of Chile (the country of extremes), it is the perfect base for exploring all that Chile has to offer. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hostel and have time to enjoy the evening at your leisure.

This morning, we will embark on a city tour of Santiago. You'll get to know the vivid capital of Chile and learn more about its eventful past through the most important sites of Santiago de Chile, admire the Hidalgo castle, and enjoy incredible views of the city from Santa Lucia hill. You'll pass through the Constitution Square and La Moneda, the current seat of the government, then walk to Plaza de Armas, surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the palace of the Royal High Court, the Main Post Office, and other buildings of historical interest. You'll visit San Cristobal Hill (for even more amazing panoramic views) and the Central Market (to see the great variety of Chilean seafood).

After a wonderful morning exploring Santiago, you’ll spend the afternoon relaxing, or you can add on a cooking class, where you'll learn all about the delicious Chilean flavors of Santiago.

Day 3: Santiago - Valparaíso, Chile

After breakfast, we will pack our bags and head out for our next adventure. We'll explore the quirky town of Valparaíso and stroll through bohemian neighbourhoods that offer spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean. This picturesque city was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, and it's easy to see why. We'll also unwind at Viña del Mar, a jet-set resort of yesteryear, visiting the pier and the coastline with some of its beaches.

After a morning of travels, you may spend the afternoon relaxing, or you can choose to add an adventurous horseback ride on the beach.

Day 4: Valparaiso, Chile

After breakfast, we will get to know Valparaíso in the company of our local guide, who knows every corner of this beautiful port, with its striking morphology and beautiful architecture. We will visit the most emblematic hills in the area, Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, by using their traditional lifts. We will also stop by the house-museum La Sebastiana, which belonged to the famous Chilean poet and Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda. After our visit in Valparaíso, we'll continue to nearby Viña del Mar, known as the "Garden City" because of its large quantity of green areas, flowers, and parks. The city is also known for its beautiful beaches, extensive coastal areas with high buildings, and varied entertainment places.

After a wonderful morning, you may spend the afternoon relaxing, or you can choose to add an evening cocktail and craft beer tasting tour.

Day 5: Valparaíso - San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

After breakfast, we will fly to San Pedro de Atacama for our next adventure. We will pack our bags and head to Arturo Merino Benitez Santiago International Airport (1.5 hours). Once we arrive in Calama, our driver will pick us up and drive us to San Pedro de Atacama (1.5 hours).

You'll have ample time to spend the rest of the evening exploring the city at your leisure. Make sure to enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel or at a local restaurant.

Day 6: San Pedro de Atacama, Chile >

After breakfast, we will head out to explore the Atacama Salt Flats. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, we’ll visit the luminescent salt flats of Soncor, observe fabulous flocks of brightly colored flamingos in Los Flamencos National Park, and explore the luscious lagoons of Miscanti and Miniques.

In the afternoon, you’ll browse the boutiques of Tocanao for special souvenirs and artisan treasures before heading back to the hostel.

Day 7: San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Today, we will discover the otherworldly landscape of the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) on an exciting excursion from San Pedro de Atacama. We'll marvel at sharp peaks, undulating sand dunes, and rugged caverns as we journey through one of the driest and most diverse deserts on earth. We'll explore the area on foot with an interesting and insightful guide, ascending to the top of a vertiginous dune to watch one of the most spectacular sunsets you’ve ever witnessed.

After we return from Moon Valley, you will head to the airport for your return flight — or continue with us into Bolivia, if you've chosen to extend your trip!
